TY - JOUR AU1 - Goodman,, Daniel AB - Abstract An exploration of ideological components of our ecological crisis, by way of arguments that ideologies are, in a pragmatic sense, real, and that many of our ecologically relevant ideals and attitudes, are ideologically grounded. The thesis that interest-group liberalism is an influential public philosophy is utilized as a conceptual framework for identifying and explicating the ideological basis of ecologically unsound public policy. If this analysis is correct, the social obligation of the scientist is much greater, and is of a more political nature than is generally acknowledged.
