TY - JOUR AU1 - Yamanari, Masahiro AU2 - Miura, Masahiro AU3 - Makita, Shuichi AB - Birefringence of retinal nerve fiber layer is measured by polarization-sensitive spectral domain optical coherence tomography using the B-scan-oriented polarization modulation method. Birefringence of the optical fiber and the cornea is compensated by Jones matrix based analysis. Three-dimensional phase retardation map around the optic nerve head and en-face phase retardation map of the retinal nerve fiber layer are shown. Unlike scanning laser polarimetry, our system can measure the phase retardation quantitatively without using bow-tie pattern of the birefringence in the macular region, which enables diagnosis of glaucoma even if the patients have macular disease.
