This issue focuses on various aspects of instructional design in distance education. In Designing Authentic Activities in Web-Based Courses the authors claim that there are critical characteristics of authentic activities that can be incorporated into the design of Web-based courses to enhance learning online. The Relationship of Personality-Based Learning Style Preferences and Learning among Online Graduate Students suggests that designers can provide equity in learning for all personality-based learning styles provided the course is designed to include elements that appeal to students with different styles. The Effect of Facilitating Chinese Instruction with a Theory- Driven Course Web Site explores the potential impact of its Course Web Site on students' academic performance.
