The school-to-prison pipeline (STPP) can be defined T as crime control mechanisms and harsh punishment policies and practices that are implemented in schools that push students out of school and into the criminal justice system. There has been opposition to many of the practices and policies implemented in the past thirty years that have changed how we punish youth in schools. Mark R. Warren’s well researched book is one of the first to explore the highs and lows of the movement to dismantle the school-to- prison pipeline. It is an informative read that leaves the reader both troubled by the issue but also motivated.
