TY - JOUR AU - Brozel, M. R. AB - Advanced MOS Devices: D. K. SCHRODER (Addison Wesley, 1988,247 pp., £13.95) This is the latest addition to Addison Wesley's Modular Series on Solid State Devices, which is developing into a very useful package; each book is manageable in size and scope, but the coverage of the series is wide and detailed in its handling of the subject matter. One problem of such a series may be finding suitable titles for the individual volumes, and in the present case it must be clear that this volume does not touch upon MOS power devices or on any of the vertical structures (those will probably come later). The author concentrates on low power devices in integrated circuit (planar) format, and with a heavy emphasis on charge-coupled devices and memories. This central section is preceded by useful chapters on fundamental device physics and material and device characterisation, and it is followed by a distillation of the complex beha viour of short and narrow channel devices. This last part is particularly well done. The presentation is clear and readable, the price (in paperback) is reasonable, and the book can be thoroughly recommended. D. C.
