Since them, organizational learning and the related concept of the learning organization have gained much currency among academics, consultants and management practitioners. This has been particularly the case since the publication of Peter Senge’s popular and influential book The fíjth discipline: The art and practice of the learning organization (1990). Much of this subsequent work, including that of Senge, is indebted to the key ideas that Argyris and Schon introduced in 1978. In light of this history, Argyris and Sch6n’s new book Organizational learning II. Theory, method and to be a new version of their 1978 ’classic’. As such it can only be described as residing somewhere in between a second edition and a sequel.
