TY - JOUR AU1 - Yanagisawa, Saburo AU2 - Seki, Michiharu AU3 - Watanabe, Yoshikazu AU4 - Nakamura, Shigeru AB - A method is described for automatic micro-analysis of gases in metals by vacuum fusion. Determination of extracted gases is automatically performed by recording the changes of pressure of gases at constant volume by a diffusion pump (heating current is constant) after isolating each gas. A rotary McLeod gauge is devised, with a stretched platinum-resistance wire in its capillary allowing electrical measurement and automatic recording of the pressures of the gases in the courses of analysis. The McLeod gauge is automatically rotated. The automatic selection of the paths of the gases are controlled with solenoid mercury cuts by time-switches on a rotary drum. The time necessary to determining O2 and N2 in a metal sample is less than 30 minutes including the time taken for extracting the gases.
