Bondarenko, and V. I. Vorob’ev There has been a discussion [1] on improving the performance of standard electric drives (ED) for pipeline equip- ment. This covered not only replacing the existing electromechanical relay units (displacement and time ones) by electronic units but also giving the ED additional functions, with control without resort to a special control panel containing magnetic relays. The electronic unit contains a power switching unit (PSU) for the supply phases, which contains simistors. The PSU provides a control of the electric drive either directly or through an interface at the intermediate branch point, i.e., it simplifies the control circuit. However, if it is necessary to replace the ED by existing products, where there is already a control circuit through the control panel, it is clearly undesirable to install a power switching unit. This applies completely to using ED at nuclear power stations, where they should be controlled by a slide control unit (SCU) BUZ-M. It is thus clearly necessary to develop an electronic unit not containing PSU.
