TY - JOUR AU - Yi, Tian AB - A cascaded drive-control method of ultrahigh frame rate images was proposed in this paper. Two serially concatenated Digital Mirror Devices (DMD), which respectively realized the light intensity modulation and the bitmap modulation, were regarded as the design scheme of the infrared scene simulator that could improve the displaying frame rate through equalizing and reducing the modulation time of each bitmap. Firstly, the ultrahigh frame rate images drive-control model was set up based on the analysis of the key factors of limiting the frame rate of DMD displaying. Secondly, the performance indexes of this method, such as maximal frame rate, image gray level, efficiency of the light source and so on, were further analyzed. Finally, the hardware and software components and the working process of the drive-control system were designed. The theoretical calculation results show that the frame rate of DMD displaying 8-bit grayscale images can be 3159Hz without loss in resolution, gray level and contrast of the sense images, and the efficiency of the light source is approximately 19.3% by this method, which can achieve the requirement of the scene images ultrahigh frame rate simulation for the detector.
