Nepomnyashchii The Donets polytechnic institute, in cooperation with the design-construction bureau of the "Ukrkok- sokhimremont" trust has developed the design of a tubeless heat exchanger* with 1300 m 2 heat transfer sur- face for primary cooling of coke oven gas. The throughput capacity of the heat exchanger is 10,000 m3/h gas. The heat exchanger can also be used for cooling other process gases. The overall view of the tubeless heat exchanger is shown in Fig. 1. The heat exchanger is a vertical apparatus whose body is assembled (vertically) of individual rectangular boxes. The shell is divided in- ternally by a vertical baffle into two indentical parts operating independently of each other. They can be taken out of service (one at a time) for revamping or maintenance. There are 12 removable horizontal water sections in each part of the heat exchanger. The heat transfer surface of one section is 54 m 2. Each water section (Fig. 2, a and b) consists of 28 water channels welded into compartment distribu- tion plates. Covers, with cooling water inlets and outlets, are installed on the distribution plates. The water channels are fabricated of 3 mm TI - New design of tubeless heat exchanger JO - Chemical and Petroleum Engineering DO - 10.1007/BF01146149 DA - 2005-01-28 UR - https://www.deepdyve.com/lp/springer-journals/new-design-of-tubeless-heat-exchanger-mmfrRHpt1M SP - 77 EP - 79 VL - 10 IS - 1 DP - DeepDyve ER -
