TY - JOUR AB - Ultrasonic‐assisted glass molding process (UGMP) has gained a promising start in microptics fabrication in recent years. The upper figure illustrates the key components for UGMP, wherein the uniaxial pressure and ultrasonic vibration are simultaneously applied to the sandwiched glass, thereby producing positive mechanical and thermal effects on the glass microformability. In the lower figure, the process parameters (A), kinematic description (B), and material flow (C) in UGMP are illustrated. For further details on the final molding effect, please see “Mechanism study on microformability of optical glass in ultrasonic‐assisted molding process”, by Jianwu Yu, et al., in this issue.
