TY - JOUR AU - Isupov, A. AB - The new refractories are supplied by a similar method. The movable conveyors 6, 7, and 8, along which the refractories are moved from storage to the working area, are placed in a definite sequence. A portion of the refractories, in containers or on pallets, are delivered to the working area by bridge cranes or by a 3-ton electric hoist, which moves on the mono- rail 9. Containers and pallets with refractories are delivered from the storage area to the mill bay on truck I0. During major rebuilding, monorail 9 is lengthened and passes through specially cut repair openings of the air line, which makes it possible to replace the refrac- tories in the furnace recuperator. The mortar prepared in the unit Ii is supplied to the working area through the mortar line 12 by compressed air. The mechanized system has made it possible to significantly reduce the time for repair- ing the continuous furnacess to improve working conditions, and to free 26 men for other work.
