TY - JOUR AU - Mondal, Hossain Ali AB - Valeriana was an endangered category of medicinal plant which was found naturally in higher altitude around 1000 m above sea level in Himalayan region. One season’s lower altitude having 43 m ASL grown plant was uprooted, and vegetative nodal explant was harvested with abbreviation as ‘1LA’ as it was already exposed to one season’s LA environment. Likewise, vegetative nodal explant from two seasons’ LA grown (2LA) plant was harvested. Both 1LA and 2LA vegetative nodal explant were again planted to both LA and HA to investigate the effect of previous LA exposure accumulation into the vegetative nodal explant and its orchestration in above ground and below ground characters. The result showed that 1LA, 2LA and 3LA having one, two and three seasons’ LA exposure showed significant ‘total length of plant including root’ as compared to HA grown plant, acted as control. But, 3LA depicted significantly higher ‘total length of plant including root’ as compared to 1LA and thus indicated that previous LA exposure was retained into vegetative nodal explant. Likewise, the previous LA exposure was also retained into vegetative nodal explant which enhanced significantly in ‘total plant weight’ which was again contributed by ‘above ground mass per plant’ and ‘below ground mass per plant’. Below ground mass per plant resumed its original character in just one season’s HA exposure of the 1LA and 2LA nodal explant mediated emergence. But above ground mass per plant attenuated its original character. Below ground mass per plant which was again contributed by root as well as rhizome mass per plant was resumed its original character in just one season HA exposure. Therefore, below ground mass per plant was more sensitive and reversible, whereas above ground mass per plant was irreversible in resuming its original character in HA environment.
