Marakanov UDC 621.785.72:621.791.052.001.24 High-temperature tempering of welded joints of connection-free collection chambers was studied by a new method consisting of combined resistance heaters inside the chamber and a high-s inductor on the outer surface close to the weld seams of welded tubes (Fig. 1). Tempering was conducted without use of thermal insulation. This method of heating makes it possible to maintain the optimal tempering temperature precisely (720-750~ in the heat-affected zone, in which cracks often occur [1]. An inductor of divided water-cooled busbars is placed on the outer surface of the chamber in the area of the welded joints and an electrical resistance heater is placed inside the chamber.* The temperature was measured by means of Chromel-Alumel thermoeouples welded to the collector at points shown in Fig. 1. The welded joints were tempered at 680, 700, 730, and 750~ for 3 h. The study was made on welded joints of collecting chambers with coils of steel 12Kh1MF. We investigated the microstructure and hardness of different zones of the welded joints after welding and after tempering by the combination method.
