TY - JOUR AU - Glahn, Else AB - ON THE TRANSMISSION OF THE YING-TSAO FA-SHIH BY ELSE GLAHN In 1925 there was published a magnificent edition of the Sung manual on house construction, Ying-tsao fa-shih (hereafter YTFS). The characters were cut according to the style of Sung, and the drawings were for the first time printed in colours. The whole production is a masterpiece of workmanship. The first printed edition of the YTFS was edited by Li Chieh -z? ;3a (T. Ming- chung hfl jw) and published in 1103. A second edition revised by Wang Huan was published in 1145. Of the 1103 edition only short citations in two Sung works remain, while three chapters and nine pages of the 1145 edition have recently been found. The rest of the work we know only from copies of copies of manuscript copies, all of the 1145 edition.
