AB - This paper describes the use of a MD-55 radiochromic film to measure proton doses and dose distributions in a homogeneous lucite phantom. Radiosurgery dose distributions were measured for the plateau and for the Bragg peak techniques with narrow proton beams. Measured distributions were compared to the dose distributions calculated with a 3-D image-based treatment planning system developed at Loma Linda University Medical Center, California and modified to accommodate to treatment delivery apparatus used at the Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Physics, Moscow, Russia. The results of this comparison indicate agreement within the accuracy of the radiochromic film technique.
