TY - JOUR AB - PharmacoEconomics & Outcomes News 381 - 21 Sep 2002 ■ An electromagnetic tagging system has been launched by the UK firm Flying Null to assist pharmaceutical companies combat the counterfeit drug trade, which the firm currently estimates represents around 7% of the worldwide drug supply, reports Scrip. The tagging system allows the contents of drug packaging to be verified without breaching the tamper-evident seal, as the technology is able to be scanned through other packaging, says the firm. In addition, the new system is considerably less costly than Radio Frequency Identification tags, which, it notes, are the only other equally effective solution. New tag to prevent counterfeits.
