TY - JOUR AU - Lando, Ole AB - Future prospects of the unification of contract law in Europe and worldwide A dialogue between Michael Joachim Bonell and Ole Lando on the occasion of the seminar in honour of Ole Lando held in Copenhagen on 29 August 2012 Michael Joachim Bonell* and Ole Lando Michael Joachim Bonell It is a great honour for me to be invited to participate in today’s celebration in honour of Ole Lando, an outstanding scholar and a very good friend! I first met Ole in the mid-1970s at the Villa Aldobrandini in Rome. He had come with his family to Rome on vacation, but—knowing him, no surprise!—he could not resist spending part of his time at the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) library. When I was introduced to him I was—to say the least—very excited. I was then a young researcher at UNIDROIT, and my task was, among others, to act as secretary to a committee composed of three ‘wise men’—Rene David, Tudor Popescu, and Clive Schmitthoff—who were launching a fairly ambitious project called the Progressive Codification of the Law of International Trade.
