TY - JOUR AU1 - Prommik, Pärt AU2 - Kolk, Helgi AU3 - Maiväli, Ülo AU4 - Pääsuke, Mati AU5 - Märtson, Aare AB - Key summary pointsAimTo describe post-acute care (PAC) after index hip fracture (HF) in Estonia and compare it between patients with and without a diagnosis of dementia.FindingsPAC of HF patients varied from extensive to no care: 8.7% received combined inpatient, outpatient, and community care; 59% received hospital care with the distribution of length of stay as 14% <2 weeks, 33% 2-4 weeks, 13% >6 weeks; 4% received outpatient and community care solely or in combination; 28% received no PAC. Physical therapy (PT) was available for 56% of patients, and 35% of those with dementia.MessageThe varying PAC and the limited and unequal provision of PT show an urgent need to standardise rehabilitation after index HF in Estonia.
