TY - JOUR AU - Cheng,, Z.-B. AB - Abstract A multichannel, computer-monitored flight mill suitable for studying flight performance of small, weakly flying insects such as leafhoppers was developed. The flight mill uses a magnetic bearing and light-weight arm to minimize friction and drag. Sixteen mills can be monitored simultaneously by a PC. The construction of the mills and monitor, and data from a small number of test experiments, are presented. The problems associated with interpreting flight mill data are also considered.
