We clinical interests. MR JOHN BAXTER (Glasgow) John Neville Baxter (born 1946) is a reader in surgery and honorary consultant surgeon at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary University Trust Hospital. He graduated from the University of Otago, New Zealand, in 1972, and trained in Dunedin, New Zealand and Liverpool. He obtained the FRACS diploma in 1980 (Gordon Taylor prize winner) and gained his MD with distinction from the University of Liverpool in 1986. He has held the posts of Senior Lecturer in the University of Liverpool and Associate Professor of Surgery, University of Otago (1987-1989). His main clinical and research interest is in surgical gastroenterology and he has published extensively in this area. DR JOHN PEMBERTON (USA) John Hogeland Rmberton, who was born in 1949, is Professor of Surgery at Mayo Medical School, Rochester, Minnesota. He graduated from Tulane University, New Orleans, and undertook his residency training at the Mayo Clinic. In 1992 he was Travelling Fellow of the James IV Association of Surgeons.
