Shafir One of the most recent types of draw-twister for polyamide yarn is the KV-II-15OK which was designed and built at the Special Design and Technological Office in Leningrad and installed at the Klin Fibre Combine where it has been undergoing production trials since 1969 for the purpose of assessing its capabilities, evolving its technological parameters and evaluating the design of the machine and its sub-assemblies. The two-sided KV-II-150K draws and twists 15.6 - 1.7 tex polyamide fibres. Its main sub-assemblies (Figs. 1 and 2) are the frame, the bobbin holder, the feed unit, the draw and twisting motions, the hydraulic drive of the winder motion, the drive and main trans- mission, the yarn heater, the vapour extractor system, the spindle, the spindle drive and transmission cord, and the footboard. The trials showed that the machine design permits troublefree tending and that the stringing line is convenient (Fig.3). The frame is rigid so that the machine does not vibrate. The ringrails are traversed hydraulically. The hydraulic drive of the winder motion gives a smoother and more precise ringrail travel than mechanical drives.
