TY - JOUR AU - Klein, Gerhart P. AB - A manufacturing process for solid tantalum capacitors in the lower CV range based on the use of a continuous tape approach eliminates the handling of individual parts through the most critical stages of the process and thereby eliminates mechanical damage, operator error, and reduces the labor requirements drastically. The process extends from the initial phase of anode fabrication by sintering to lead attachment and encapsulation. High process yields and very uniform device parameters can be achieved through the mechanization of all process operations. The process lends itself to complete automation and operation by means of a process control computer.
