Strekozov UDC 621.791.052.08 A gage designed to measure the dimensions of weld seams has been fabricated at the Uzbekkhimmash Factory and put into regular use in inspecting welded work. The gage (see Fig. 1) consists of a guide and frame moving on a ruled rod, adjustable measuring jaws, a spring, and a fixing clamp. The gage has an additional moving measuring jar rigidly coupled to the frame and guide as an aid in measuring the height of tee-joint legs. The gage is employed as follows. The surface of the fixed measuring jaw is taken as the base in measuring the height of tee-joint legs, while the dimension of the fillet leg is obtained by adjusting the mov- ing measuring jaw. The surfaces of the support legs are taken as the base in measuring the height of butt welds, while the surface of the ruled rod is used to obtain the height of the weld seam. The width of the butt weld is determined by the distance between the fixed and moving measuring jaws. Fig. 1.
