Open in new tabDownload slide Open in new tabDownload slide CardioEgypt 2020, the largest regional cardiology meeting in the Middle East and Africa, was organized this year by Ain Shams University chaired by Professor Maiy El Sayed and Professor Magdy Abdelhamid President of the EgSC. For 4 days, there were more than 10 parallel halls, training villages, case corners, and a hub with several hands-on tailored workshops and a large number of renowned speakers from all over the world. This year’s faculty list included more than 1210 specialists both local and international. The conference was attended by more than 5734 doctors from Egypt, Africa, and the Middle East, as well as several Asian and European countries. More than 50 pharmaceutical and medical equipment companies were presenting in an elegant exhibition setup. The conference discussed the latest in all fields of cardiology. The past president of the American College of Cardiology and the President-Elect of the European Society of Cardiology shared in the conference and both societies had joint sessions with the Egyptian Society of Cardiology, also the International Society of Cardiovascular Disease Prevention, CSI, PICS, AEPC, PASCAR, and the EAPC also participated with joint sessions. The annual joint session between the EgSC and the ESC was an exciting session which focused on management of chronic coronary syndromes where Professor Achenbach presented elegantly the role of CT imaging and the new 2019 ESC guidelines for the diagnosis and management of chronic coronary syndromes, Professor Abdelhamid presented the landmark ISCHEMIA trial and its impact on daily practice with a great interactive discussion with the audience and panellists. Open in new tabDownload slide Open in new tabDownload slide CardioEgypt 2020 featured four State of the Art lectures by renowned faculty; What’s new in 2019 Guidelines on Diabetes, Pre-diabetes, and Cardiovascular diseases by Francesco Cosentino the chair of the Diabetes, Pre-Diabetes, and Cardiovascular Diseases ESC Guidelines, The Future of Pharmacotherapy: From Herbs to Genetic Tools by Thomas Lüscher the editor in chief of the EHJ, The Best of ACC ‘19-Trials & Guidelines That Changed Practice by Michael Valentine the past president of the ACC, Rheumatic heart disease, where do we stand in 2020? by Karen Sliwa the president of the World Heart Federation. The World Heart Federation held their business meeting on the first day of the conference and all board members were represented in various sessions throughout the 4 days of the conference. Live transmission for difficult structural and congenital heart disease intervention and CTO PCI were done from Spain, KSA and from Ain Shams University Egypt. Also, it is to be noted that a dedicated CRT, Pacemakers, and ICD EHRA course was performed for 3 full days. Finally, this year as part of the society’s social responsibility and being proactive to give back to the community, the congress bags featured Button Up, a company that empowers unprivileged women with no proper source of income by training them to hand make these bags.
