TY - JOUR AB - atric viewpoints which are presented are thus only a part of the problematics, The theories elaborated by Selye and his school have been dealt with only to a very little extent. Where this has taken place we suppose that the fundamental notions of his doctrine about stress and adaptation are ,known to the reader. To elucidate from all aspects the problems concerned one should need a large research team, and it has in no way been the intention to present other than results which may be obtained by psychiatric method. What has been said about physiological viewpoints counts also for surgical and medical aspects. References of literature have therefore as fas as possible been limited to that published from psychiatric or psychosomatic side. The results here presented must therefore not be understood by other medical specialities as a critic. It is only the intention to elucidate the psychic aspect of medical etiology which we think necessary for the holistic conception of the human being.
