AB - It is shown, using the WO3–diamond system as an example, that, during high-pressure sintering of diamond in the presence of nonmetallic catalysts, polycrystalline diamond consisting of submicron-sized crystallites is formed in pores of the compact. The elastic properties of the materials thus prepared suggest that WO3 has an advantageous effect on diamond sintering.
