TY - JOUR AU - Friedman, Mendel AB - The flame resistance of wool fabrics is usefully increased by treating them with aliphatic haloorganic acid halides in dimethylformamide for 15 -30 min at 50°C. Both chlorine and bromine derivatives are effective. At least 2% com bined halogen by weight appears necessary to protect woolen fabrics. 'I'he flame resistance is durable to drycleaning and laundering. Prior stabilization of the fabric to felting shrinkage was needed to evaluate durabihty of flame resistance to laundering.
