AB - The treatment with plaster braces of young patients suffering from scoliosis should be performed in the presence of curves of middle degree, that cannot be corrected by orthopaedic braces, but are not yet so severe to require surgery. Indications are analyzed on the basis of angular values, skeletal maturation, evolution indexes, clinical and radiographic aspect and localization of the curve. The techniques for moulding the main types of plaster braces are described, together with recommendations on patient management after the cast has been made and possible complications.
