TY - JOUR AU - ROOT, FRANCIS METCALF AB - NOTE ON THE MOSQUITO FAUNA OF THE REPUBLIC OF HAITI.* BY FRANCIS METCALF ROOT. (Received for publication March 15, 1927.) During the period from August, 1924 to December, 1925, Dr. William A. Hoffman was engaged in mosquito survey work in the Republic of Haiti under the direction of Dr. G. W. Payne of the International Health Board field staff. Dr. Hoffman (1926) has al- ready published some notes on the Haitian species of Anopheles. He has asked- me to report on his collections of Culicine mosquitoes. The specimens were somewhat damaged by the attacks of museum pests, but were, for the most part, in good enough condition to permit of accurate identification. Since the literature contains very few references to the mosquito fauna of Haiti, it has seemed worth while to publish a record of Dr. Hoffman's collections, although, as was to be expected, most of the- species which he obtained had been already recorded from the sister republic of Santo Domingo, which occupies the eastern portion of the same island. The Carnegie Monograph by Howard, Dyar and Knab contains numerous records from Santo Domingo, based in large meas- ure on the collections made in July, August and September, TI - NOTE ON THE MOSQUITO FAUNA OF THE REPUBLIC OF HAITI* JO - American Journal of Epidemiology DO - 10.1093/oxfordjournals.aje.a120424 DA - 1927-07-01 UR - https://www.deepdyve.com/lp/oxford-university-press/note-on-the-mosquito-fauna-of-the-republic-of-haiti-a9FfPE4Q4x SP - 463 EP - 469 VL - 7 IS - 4 DP - DeepDyve ER -
