TY - JOUR AU - Davey,, M.R. AB - Abstract The genetic manipulation of lettuce (Lactuca sativa) necessitates a reliable and efficient, genotype-independent method of transformation. Thirteen lettuce cultivars have been assessed for their amenability to Agrobacterrum-mediated gene transfer linked to their tissue culture responsiveness, including callus induction and shoot regeneration. A reliable protocol has been developed for the routine production of transgenic plants for all 13 cultivars investigated.
