TY - JOUR AU - Kafarov, T. AB - T. ~. Kafarov UDC 681.128 Various level indicators are used in science and industry for determining the level of liquids. However, the majority of them is intended for working at relatively low pressures not exceeding 15 MPa. Moreover, many level indicators are structurally complicated and require special attention. For the separation of gas from oil in precision compress-air pressure measurements with piston manometers it becomes necessary to use a liquid separating device. The oil level in it must be known precisely in order to apply corrections to the measured pressure for the hydrostatic pressure of liquid columns. It is not then always pos- sible to use an ordinary level indicator. In this connection the I. G. Es'man Azerbaidzhan Scientific-Research In- stitute of Energetics has made and tested out a simple liquid level indicator (Fig. 1) which is suitable for deter- mining oil level at high pressures. The schematic for measuring pressure and levels is shown in Fig. 2. The particular feature of this liquid level indicator consists of the application of a float with a magnet and the utilization of a magnetic needle as a level index. The indicator float 1 (see Fig. 1) is made from foam plastic.
