Zubkov High-silica type Y zeolite, which has unique adsorptive and catalytic properties, is used widely as a catalyst component. A simple and inexpensive method for obtaining Y zeolite by using sodium silicate as the source of silica has come into commercial use [i, 2]. In this method, the initial alumina--silica gel with the required composition is precipitated from the sodium silicate solution by adding sodium aluminate, plus an aluminum salt with an acidic react.on (such as aluminum sulfate) and a colloidal seed material. Upon crystallization of the zeolite, only part of the original material ends up as crys- tals. Up to 50% of the Na20, up to 35% of the Si02, and all of the Na2SO 4 formed by neutral- lization of the excess caustic by the aluminum sulfate solution remains in the mother liquor. It has been proposed that such mother liquor should be treated with slaked lime in order to regenerate the sodium hydroxide [3], or with carbon dioxide to precipitate amorphous silica in order to use it as part of the reaction mixture in crystallization of the Y zeolite TI - Zero-waste technology for manufacture of NaY zeolite JF - Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils DO - 10.1007/BF01110458 DA - 2005-01-22 UR - https://www.deepdyve.com/lp/springer-journals/zero-waste-technology-for-manufacture-of-nay-zeolite-YSL775kt6y SP - 563 EP - 565 VL - 22 IS - 11 DP - DeepDyve ER -
