AB - has introduced into the production line accurately cast block press molds and is at the point of installing demountable press molds. The demountable molds are assembled in accordance with the cast master molds. The cost of manufacturing press molds from accurately cast blanks has been reduced 50-60% by comparison with the manufacture of molds by mechanical processing and hand stamping. The cost of accurately cast press molds at the Kiev Plant will be 560 rubles where the same press mold previously cost 1200 rubles. The surfaces of the cast press molds of class 5 roughness (State Standard 2789-73) will be brought up to class 8 by polishing while still keeping the cast structure of the surface layer. The fine-grain structure of the surface layer of the accurately cast press molds helps to improve their resistance by 1.8-2-fold over the press molds in which the surface layer has been improved by mechanical treatment.
