TY - JOUR AU - Guseva, I. AB - 1. An investigation was made of the activity of an NiO-aluminum silicate catalyst, used earlier in the polymerization of ethylene, and of its separate components in the reactions of the displacement of the double bond in 1-butene and the polymerization of 1-butene at atmospheric pressure, 270°, and a space velocity of 1400–1600 hour−1. 2. The catalyst is active in the isomerization of 1- to 2-butene and in the polymerization of 1-butene, but this activity is associated with the aluminum silicate; under the given conditions NiO is inactive in these reactions. 3. Over NiO — aluminum silicate and over aluminum silicate the yields of polymerization products are 8–10% and 15% and the yields of cracking products are 1.0–2.0% and 3%, respectively.
