TY - JOUR AU1 - Poudyal, Neelam C. AB - compared tournament and non-tournament anglers in Tennessee in terms of their demographics, fishing characteristics, species preference, level of importance placed on on-site facilities, and catch, as well as non-catch, aspects of the angling experience. This article differs from similar works because of the freshwater fishing context and the comparison of angler groups preferences for a range of freshwater fish and the importance of site amenities. As opposed to focusing on a particular segment of the angler population (e.g., tournament participants, anglers seeking particular fish), the article relied on the population of fishing license holders in the state for the sampling frame. Our approach characterizes the proportion of tournament anglers in the population and developed an accurate sample of non-tournament anglers for compar- ison. The study also compared the group preferences for various fish to stock. CONTACT Neelam C.
