AB - This paper compares the cathode luminescence UV‐spectra and microstructure of MgO, MgO:Si, MgO:Sc, and Mg0.85Ca0.15O crystals. The shift of the UV emission peaks is discussed and a hypothesis is proposed to explain both the different emission characteristics, and the possible relationship with exoemission and secondary electron emission.
