AB - Abstract This article states that research in environmental communication needs to look at the communication-related linkages between society and the environment, and argues that biosocial theory presents a conceptual framework useful to mass communication scholars who wish to study these linkages. The article selects evidence from a historical case study of a wilderness in Ontario and northern Minnesota to suggest five interrelated, generalizable propositions that develop some of these communication-related linkages.
