TY - JOUR AU - Jun, Li AB - Sir It was my pleasure to read this paper. I can't agree with the result about long-term outcome, as the authors have used an incorrect method to calculate this. Obviously, mortality, cancer-related mortality and recurrence rate are all survival data, so these should have been analysed as survival data. In other words, the end-result and follow-up should have been considered simultaneously. In the published article, however, the survival data were calculated simply as dichotomous data. Although I do think that LAC is effective with respect to long-term outcome, I can't accept the conclusions of this paper. Copyright © 2007 British Journal of Surgery Society Ltd.
