V. Bonventre (Massachusetts, USA), M. E. De Broe (Antwerp, Belgium), H. Haller ( Hannover, Germany) and B. A. Molitoris ( Indianapolis, USA). The idea is to bring together experts in the field of ischaemia/ reperfusion, not limited to the kidney. Moreover, we intend to create a discussion forum dealing with the latest insights in particular physiopathological mechanisms playing a role in ischaemia/reperfusion. Experts in these basic mechanisms will be invited. Applications of these concepts to several organs (kidney, heart, liver, brain, …) will be discussed. Some travel grants for young scientists, who submit abstracts for the poster session are available. This initiative will be preceded on Thursday 19 September 2002 by a postgraduate course supported by the European Kidney Research Association ( EKRA).
