Objective: To study the effects of morning and bedtime intake of nifedipine controlled release tablets on blood pressure, and the relationship between morning blood pressure surge and cardio-cerebral vascular events. Methods: One hundred and ten newly diagnosed hypertensive patients, aged from 32 to 76  years, were randomly divided into morning and bedtime groups in which the patients took a 30 mg nifedipine controlled release tablet at 6:00 am to 8:00 am and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, respectively (n = 55 per group). All patients underwent 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring before and aer 8 w ft eeks of treatment. e diff Th erence of 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure value between the 2 groups and its association with cardio-cerebral vascular events in 18 months of follow-up were analyzed.
