TY - JOUR AU - SCHANZE,, HELMUT AB - Abstract Since electronic text systems tend to replace print media, there is no doubt about their impact on the social system of literary communication in the long run. The main hypothesis of this paper is, that in the end books will not be replaced in a strict sense, but transformed into a new function in society in a creative process. We expect to find new print media and new electronic media in a new system of social communication and information. We assume an interdependence between ‘new’ and ‘old’ media, creatively correlated and interrelated. The following paper deals with assumptions, prerequisites, aims of research and methodological questions of a project on text systems considered as new media. It gives a basic theory of the primitives of word-processing and further perspectives in this field.
