Orzhekhovskii Gas Fitter at the Petrov Plant Translated from Metallurg, No. 3, p. 9, March, 1963 Due to the breaking of cables and chains of the valves for cold and hot blast, defects in the electric equipment or in the electrical system (especially when the air blowers operate on an automatic regime), and also due to unre- liable work of the furnace's gas fitters when valves are switched manually, the supply of blast to the furnace may cease. All of the enumerated instances have been known to occur at our plant and at others. The sudden cessation of the supply of blast to the furnace may lead to flooding of the tuyere apparatus with slag and iron, which may cause burn-throughs, and even to the flooding of the annular air pipe with molten smelting products. There is a possibility of accidents at the air blowers if ,/6 the discharge valve is worn. t t J In order to preclude possible accidents, especially when blast- furnaces are operated on an automatic regime, the author proposed use of an impulse which is received immediately when the blast supply TI - Safe attendance of blast-furnaces and of the air blowers JF - Metallurgist DO - 10.1007/BF01140853 DA - 2005-01-27 UR - https://www.deepdyve.com/lp/springer-journals/safe-attendance-of-blast-furnaces-and-of-the-air-blowers-SfhgEAP1qB SP - 109 EP - 109 VL - 7 IS - 3 DP - DeepDyve ER -
