TY - JOUR AU - Klimov, K. AB - 1. Apparatus and procedures have been developed for rating the lubricity of automotive brake fluids. 2. A study has been made of the lubricities of several commercial brake fluids and components of these fluids, and feasibility has been demonstrated for the use of the apparatus and procedure to rate the lubricity of commercial and experimental fluids, components of these fluids, and additives. 3. Of the domestic commercial brake fluids that were studied, the best antiwear properties are shown by BSK fluid, and the worst by GTZh-22. The GTN fluid approaches BSK in lubricity. 4. Petroleum fluids, polyglycols, higher alcohols, and ethers are promising components for brake fluids from the standpoint of lubricity.
