History.—At the age of eight months, following whooping cough, she developed a red, sore, sealy i>atch on the left side of the chin, wliich gradually extended to involve most of the face and spread slightly on to the nrck. Subsequently she devi'IojK^d small retl spots on the l)acks of the leg.s and pale warty lesions on the hands, starting Fll!. 1. on the middle Hnger of the left hand. The lesions on the legs showed a linear distribu- tion, resembling an epidermal nacvus. There is no consanguinity of parents, and no family history of skin disorders. On examination.—She is a rather nervous, backward child. There is a slight diver- gent strabismus, but no other neurological abnormality. On the face the lesionaappear as sharjjly defined pigmented areas with slight scaling (Fig. 1). No sweating has been observed over the affected areas. The buecal mucous membrane and lips arc not involved and, although there is slight scaling of the scalp, there is no alojwcia.
