AB - Abstract Lead acetate (0.05 and 0.1 %) was given in drinking water to albine rats (120 to 150 g) of both sexes with the matched controls receiving Pb-free water. Audio-visual training was imparted to experimental animals in respect of conditioned avoidance response (CAR) and unconditioned response (UAR) in a Cook's apparatus and Techno-Y-maze. The group which received Pb simultaneously with training exhibited significant blockage in auditory based learning and performance. The group that received Pb 30 days before training showed defects in learning and performance.
