TY - JOUR AU1 - Burns, W G AU2 - Morris, B AU3 - Wilkinson, R W AB - An apparatus suitable for the measurement of the viscosity of organic liquids at temperatures of up to 400 C is described. A sealed glass capillary viscometer is used so that oxygen can be excluded and measurements made above the normal boiling-point. The viscometer is immersed in a molten salt mixture contained in a welded tank and is viewed through special windows. These consist of Kodial polished glass disks sealed to Kovar cylinders. A rotation arrangement enables the viscometer to be inverted. Examples are given of its uses on known materials and on the effect of irradiation of para-terphenyl.
