TY - JOUR AU - Sotnikov, G. AB - 1. The investigated model of the effect of electrical braking on the process of dropping the load rather clearly shows its possibility and effectiveness from the viewpoint of fluid mechanical phenomena. 2. A virtue of electrical braking is the simplicity of controlling the electrical power, which makes it possible to control the braking torque and the entire transient. 3. The practical realization of the given method requires the solution of a number of problems. They include: development of a scheme controlling the electrical braking system and selection of electrical resistances and other electrical equipment. 4. The principles of a quantitative approach to evaluating electrical braking of a unit presented in this article can be used when solving the problem of braking large pump units [3, 4] after loss of drive by them in order to weaken the dynamic effects occurring in zones of the pump characteristic far from the design ones.
