TY - JOUR AU - Malone, R. H. AB - A SIMPLE APPARATUS FOR ISOLATING SINGLE ORGANISMS. By CAPTAIN R. H. MALONE, C.A.M.C. In the Journal of Infectious Diseases (1908, vol. v. p. 379), Barber wrote a paper on “The Multiplication of B. coli,” and described a machine devised for picking out single organisms. I have never seen his apparatus, and, as far as I am aware, it has not been put on the market. The machine described below is simple, readily made in any laboratory, and serves its purpose admirably once one has acquired a little dexterity in manipulating it (Fig. 1). Remove the eye-piece and objectives from a microscope (A), and take the body tube from the rack.
