TY - JOUR AU - Saphet, Parinya AB - The experiment in charging and discharging of a capacitor through a resistor is fundamentally important for studying electronics. We have developed an alternative procedure to measure the voltage drops across capacitors as a function of time. The simple apparatus controlled by an Arduino Uno microcontroller board and LabVIEW™ interface was set up. Charging and discharging data were fitted by using exponential linear and associating functions. We found that in series circuit, the sum of individual voltage drops in each capacitor was equal to the supplied voltage. Meanwhile in parallel circuit, the voltage drop was found to be equal to the supplied voltage. In this study, the time constant is less than 2% compared to that of in theory.
